Like a psychedelic rocket from another era, the Epiphone Jimi Hendrix Love Drops Flying V is a 60s rock machine with colorful flourishes and bluesy tonality forever entwined with a time not so bygone.
Concerning the monolithic guitarists of time, few stand on a similar echelon of cultural significance and historic relevance to Jimi Hendrix. Theres no secret as to Hendrixs mastery of both his instrument of choice and his cultural moment. With countless guitarists since his time taking up the genre and a prolific legacy decades removed, the testament to Hendrixs character and catalog exists today in listening and playing practices in which so many guitarists since are experienced. Hendrixs name is synonymous with exceptional electric guitar playing and the excitement it fosters and today, Epiphone touches down with a musical artifact that is all at once Hendrix.
The Epiphone Jimi Hendrix Love Drops Flying V comes to form as inspired by a Gibson Custom recreation of one of Hendrixs own Gibsons dating back to the late 1960s. Originally a sunburst Flying V, Hendrix personally refinished the guitar to an ebony color with hand-painted psychedelic graphics, making it a true classic rock artifact. This limited Epiphone model carries with it similar vintage style both aesthetically and audibly for a captivating tribute to one of rocks greatest.
Starting simply, this Flying V begins with a mahogany body formed in the attention-grabbing V shape. A one-piece mahogany neck joins the equation shaped in a Rounded C profile. The necks more vintage feel in hand matches with a laurel fingerboard bearing twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. An angular Flying V headstock tops off the body with an Inspired by Gibson Custom logo and a reproduction of Hendrixs signature along the back. Epiphone Deluxe tuning machines line the headstock for stability and easy string changes.
To summon a great Hendrix-style sound, this Epiphone employs two Gibson Custombucker humbucking pickups that play with bluesy tonality perfect for both cool The Wind Cries Mary riffage and fiery Spanish Castle Magic licks, alike. These humbuckers are wired with CTS potentiometers, a Mallory tone capacitor and a Switchcraft three-way pickup selector switch for high-quality tonality wherever the dials may land. A unique hardware setup appears at the base of this experience as a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Maestro Short Vibrola tailpiece assist in dynamic vibrato bends. Across the entirety of the instrument, vintage style and sound radiate for an authentic Jimi Hendrix ahem experience.
For players seeking an exciting, electric trip, this limited run from Epiphone offers an accessible ticket.
