The Epiphone Coronet, launched in 1958, was a true innovator one of Epiphone’s earliest and most popular solid body electric guitar designs. Now, the Epiphone Coronet returns to its American roots, made in the USA. This guitar pays its respect to the original, with its symmetrical double-cutaway mahogany body, three-on-a-side headstock, and the iconic “bikini” headstock badge. These classic features echo the Coronet’s early days, when it was played by musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Steve Marriott, Johnny Marr, and Marshall Crenshaw.
But the Epiphone Coronet isn’t just a trip down memory lane. Epiphone has incorporated modern improvements for enhanced playability and performance. The double-cutaway mahogany body boasts a slightly reduced depth of 1.375 inches, optimizing weight distribution and balance for a more comfortable playing experience. The glued-in mahogany neck features an Indian laurel fingerboard with a comfortable 12″ radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and stylish acrylic dot inlays.
The Coronet’s single soapbar-style P-90 delivers a character that makes this guitar a unique gem. P-90 pickups are loved for their bright, articulate character, ideal for clean tones, overdriven blues, and crunchy rock rhythms. This pickup is controlled by a simple layout a master volume and master tone, plus high-quality CTS pots and a hand-wired circuit featuring an Orange Drop capacitor.
The Coronet comes in this beautiful Vintage Cherry, as well as an Ebony finish. A high-quality hardshell case is included.
