Meet the Epiphone “Inspired by Gibson” Masterbilt J-200a nod to the legendary Gibson SJ-200, and a favorite of modern icons including Elvis and Jimmy Page. This beauty pays homage to the “King of the Flat-Tops” since 1937, with some modern spins.
The no-nonsense Masterbilt J-200sports a solid figured maple body, and a solid Sitka spruce top with a decorative mahogany center backstrip. Unlike its contemporary, the EJ-200SCE, this guitar does not have a cutaway, whichadds slightly to its already louder-than-average complexity and output when unplugged.
TheMasterbilt J-200 has it all when it comes to looks:A Super Jumbo-style body, the iconic moustache bridge with curved block inlays, a crown headstock inlay, and Graduated Crown mother of pearl fingerboard inlays to add a vintage touch. The J-200 style pickguard with two-color graphics, is a cherry on top. Beyond the aesthetic, this guitar features a stable, two-piece maple neckwith a’60s style SlimTaper, complemented by an Indian laurel fingerboard with jumbo frets.
Under the hood, you’ll find a Fishman Sonicore Under Saddle pickup system, working in tandem with soundhole mounted volume and tone controls for fine tuning. Although theMasterbilt J-200 has a vintage look, this amplification system offers a high fidelity, modern touch that makes this guitar sound as good as it looks.
