Part of their “Inspired by Gibson” line, this Epiphone ’63 Firebird I is a nod to the legacy of the original Firebird models made by Gibson, which gained acclaim among legendary musicians such as Johnny Winter, Keith Richards, and Eric Clapton, and is a recreation of the iconic designs pioneered by automotive designer Ray Dietrich in 1963.
This ’63-inspired beaty sports a 9-ply neck-through-body construction consisting of mahogany and walnut with wings made of mahogany. The body’s iconic shape features an offset design and a deep lower cutaway for easier access to high frets. The neck, also made with a combination of walnut and mahogany, is topped with a fretboard made of Indian laurel. On the fretboard, Mother of Pearl dot inlays sit between 22 frets. The total scale length of this instrument is 24.75″, and the GraphTech nut measures at 1.692 inches wide. On the headstock, sit Kluson “Banjo-style” Planetary tuning machines, adding a unique flair.
Under its hood, this Firebird boasts Gibson USA Firebird mini humbucker pickups with Alnico 5 magnets, offering a classic tone that makes this guitar a standout for the price. The controls include master volume and master tone knobs, hand-wired with CTS pots.
Like the original 1963 Firebird models, this guitar’s gorgeous Heather Poly finish stands out, accentuated by its matching painted headstock, and details like its nickel-plated hardware, and wraparound Lightning Bar bridge make it a notable choice for anyone looking for more than an average guitar. This guitar comes with an included hard case.
