Introducing the HT Club 40 MKIII combo from Blackstar, an all-tube workhorse amplifier building upon the success of the company’s HT Series of amps.
The HT Club 50 MKIII Head adopts the foundation of the HT Club 40 MKIII Combo and delivers it in a compact 50-watt head format. Particularly notable for its price point, the Blackstar HT stands out as one of the few amplifiers in its class offering both classic British and American-style tones, ranging from boutique-style cleans to intensely saturated leads.
For the MKIIIs, Blackstar gave the HT Series a cosmetic overhaul, replacing the previous fragile plastic logo with a robust metal plate, upgrading the mode selector switches to high-quality mini-toggle switches, and introducing sleek chicken-head knobs on the front panel.
The control panel will be familiar to HT series users, featuring a master volume, two-mode reverb, a three-band EQ, and Blackstar’s patented ISF tone shaping feature for the dual-voice overdrive channel. It also includes controls for overdrive volume and gain, as well as a dual-voice clean channel with independent treble and bass adjustments. The HT Club 40 MK III offers variable output power, ranging from a full 40 watts down to a manageable 4 watts, perfect from going from stage to practice rooms.
Some of the best features for MKIII are on the back of the HT Club 40. First, Blackstar upgraded the HT’s USB Audio output to the modern USB-C standard. This enhancement simplifies digital recording with an all-tube amplifier, allowing you to connect via USB-C to your computer or audio interface with ease.
Arguably the most significant feature of the HT MK III range is Blackstar’s CabRig output. This represents a substantial expansion from the previous series’ emulated output feature, which offered only a choice between 1×12 or 4×12 speaker simulations. The CabRig DSP speaker simulation, as seen in Blackstar’s highly popular Amped series of floorboard amplifiers, allows users to select from hundreds of cabinet, speaker, microphone, and placement options through Blackstar’s complimentary software. You can also store three presets directly on the amplifier for quick and convenient tone recall.
For guitarists seeking a feature-rich and highly adaptable amplifier that retains the tonal warmth and familiarity of an all-tube configuration, the Blackstar HT Club 40 MK III is an exceptional choice. Plug into a Blackstar amplifier and shape your tone as never before!
