A Taylor classic if you’ve ever seen one, the Taylor 217e Plus SB enters the conversation with a suite of iconic Taylor features both old and new. Balancing so many elements of what makes Taylor shine as a brand, this 217e Plus is sure to make a connection and serve a quick route to inspiration.
The Taylor Grand Pacific body shape sends this guitar off to the races. Its round-shoulder, dreadnought body shape fits easily under the arm for any performer to make a match with. A torrefied Sitka spruce top lays it out plainly as a reliable top tonewood. Torrefaction, a process in which imperfections are baked out through heat treatment, imparts a lived-in and aged tonal quality to this spruce that is normally reserved for much older guitars. Indian rosewood back and sides join in on this body for a classic tonewood combination that sounds unmistakably Taylor.
Taylor’s standby Neo-Tropical mahogany plays the role of this Grand Pacific’s neck. Taking the Taylor Standard Carve profile, this neck is easily gripped and seamlessly played across the palm. From here, Taylor’s responsibly-sourced West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard lands to offer up quick and articulate fretting across the fingers. This playability is compounded by a host of hardware specifications including a white NuBone nut, white Micarta saddle, and Taylor Nickel tuning machines.
Tying this whole instrument together, Taylor went ahead to add in unique internal archetecture with a strong bracing pattern. Taylor’s specially-designed C-Class bracing pattern appears within to stabilize the guitar’s voice and make for a more concise and focused tonal output. This voice is then harnessed and brought seamlessly to amplified performance with Taylor’s Expression System 2 electronics. Wherever you’re looking to play, Taylor has you covered with their proprietary electronics system. An included Taylor Guitars Aerocase ensures this guitar travels with safety and security.
Bringing together plenty of what makes a Taylor a Taylor, this 217e Plus SB is a quick pick for players looking to either get in on Taylor for the first time or the fiftieth.
