The massive digital processing power found with the Universal Audio Starlight Echo Station is enough to get some audiophile heads turning, but when switched on? That power truly comes to life.
Universal Audio’s Starlight Echo Station contains three emulations of classic delay effects that come alive when engaged. The first, Tape EP-III is a re-creation of analog tape delay effects. Imperfections, analog tones, and all, this effect revives classic delay effects of the ’60s and ’70s. On top of it all, the Tape EP-III comes with three of its own tonal variations. The second, Analog DMM is the sound of ethereal and warbling delays of the ’90s. Chorus and vibrato effects play a key role in this pedal’s setup as bucket-brigade delay tones come aplenty in this setting. The third, Precision, doubles down on the crystal clarity of modern digital delay modes. This mode can be programmed via UAD’s plug-in library to span a spectrum of tones.
The Starlight Echo Station can be built upon with an additional effect that can be accessed via Universal Audio’s product registration process. The Cooper Time Cube recreates the world’s first electromechanical delay for a truly original delay tone. Along with mono, dual-mono, and stereo operation modes, the Universal Audio smartphone app can be used with the Starlight Echo Station for enhanced functionality. A delay pedal for the ages, the Starlight Echo Station is a creation to write home about.
