The music of this publication is challenging, but accessible to a good level intermediate/advanced player. The style of jazz is unique in that a great deal of what is played is nearly impossible to notate (smears, bending of pitches, conversational interpretation of rhythms, etc.). The notation in this volume is similar to that of the great master Johann Sebastian Bach in that the interpretation is left up to the musician. There are just a few suggestions (tempo and style) but the rest is up to you! Notated improvised solos are present as a guide.
